Tanya Kne ’89 was a gifted high school student and a talented swimmer, but she was uncertain of where she wanted to attend college. Notre Dame wasn’t even a school she was considering until a family friend encouraged her to visit the University. When she came to campus, Tanya immediately knew that Notre Dame was where she belonged.

Tanya began her Notre Dame journey as a first-year student in the College of Science, a member of the swim team, and a resident of Farley Hall. Her experiences during her four years on campus were rich and formative. As a strong family does, Notre Dame nourished her mind, body, and spirit, preparing her for a successful career as a physician and healthcare administrator.

After graduating, Tanya knew she wanted to remain connected to her Notre Dame family throughout her life—and long beyond. Convicted by faith in the mission of Our Lady’s University, for decades she has given back annually to those areas of the University that made her time on campus so special. Recently, Tanya made the decision to also include a gift to Notre Dame in her estate plans to ensure that future students would have the same life-changing opportunities at the University that she had. Her immense faith in Our Lady’s University and its values has underwritten this legacy of giving.

Over the years, Tanya has gifted not only her treasure, but her time and talent as well. She has been a mentor to Notre Dame students, an advisory council member, and now the newest member of the Board of Trustees. Tanya is a valuable member of the Notre Dame family and her generosity will undoubtedly continue to impact Our Lady’s University for generations to come.
